Hello!

I am a theatre maker obsessed with unexpected connections. I want my work to bring people together, to awaken curiosity, and to inspire empathy.

I believe we can do more than simply reflect the world as it is; theatre has the power to show us worlds that could be.

I’m currently focused on writing for musical theatre. Projects in development: Ukulele Days, Joanna of Castile, and Darien the Vegetarian Barbarian.

I am a member of the Book, Music & Lyrics workshop, Mercury Musical Developments, and Musical Theatre Network.

I began my career in San Francisco, where I was artistic director of Inkblot Ensemble, and an associate artist with Cutting Ball Theater and EXIT Theatre. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Drama in 2007, after a year at the University of Manchester as an international exchange student.

Since moving to London in 2013, I have created performances at Rich Mix, Camden People’s Theatre, Shoreditch Town Hall, artsdepot, Theatre Deli, The Cockpit, LOST Theatre, Canal Cafe Theatre, Theatre Utopia, Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, and the Southbank Centre’s Women of the World Festival.

I am a co-director of Pinecone Performance Lab with Susie Italiano. Inspired by the idea of the Golden Ratio, a mathematical concept that connects design, art, music, and nature, we make theatre that seeks to understand how we relate to each other: audiences, artists, fellow humans, our culture, other cultures, the earth, the universe. The Golden Ratio is universal – it’s there in the shape of the Milky Way Galaxy and the spiral of a pinecone.

With Pinecone Performance Lab, I wrote and performed HOT (Helen of Troy), a 90s-inspired musical about beauty, power, and myth, featuring a teenage me and the voice of Helen of Troy. The work-in-progress premiered at The Cockpit in early 2020, and is poised for further development as a two-hander musical. From 2016-2019, we developed Home is Where, a cross-cultural oral history library which has taken many forms in performance from a multi-character dystopian fiction to a one-on-one interactive performance.

In addition to my creative work, I am passionate about connecting and supporting fellow artists. As co-director of the Voila! Europe Theatre Festival, I programme an annual celebration of multilingual, multicultural, multidisciplinary theatre. With Pinecone, I created and facilitated the London Devised Theatre Intensive (2018 & 2019), a two-week workshop for theatre makers using Open Space Technology.  In 2020, I became the director of Theatre Maker, The Cockpit’s artist development programme.

I live in North London with my partner, two cats, and an ever-growing collection of ukuleles.
