Songs for Social Distancing

Well. These are strange times.

I’m usually a theatre maker, and my work depends on getting people in the same room together to have a shared experience. We can’t do that at the moment because of the corona virus.

So I thought I’d write some songs instead. I’ve been inspired by videos of Italians singing together on their balconies. We’re going to need the arts to help keep our communities connected.

I’ve started a YouTube channel called “Songs for Social Distancing.” Here’s the first video:

I play the ukulele and sing (and I’m slowly learning the piano too). I’ve got a few ideas, but I’m also taking suggestions for the songs you need to hear right now. Do you want upbeat songs about how we’ll get through this? Do you want cathartic songs that dive deep into how you’re feeling and then leave you with a glimmer of hope? Do you want satirical, political, or just plain silly songs? Let me know, and I’ll see what I can do.

Or maybe you want to get involved? Find out more about collaborations here. Let’s make some music together.

Take care and be kind,
Amy x
